Extracurricular Activities
OLQP
Athletic Program
The athletic program at Our Lady Queen of Peace is a privilege,
which must be earned and maintained. The following team sports are
offered: football, soccer (fall and spring), volleyball, basketball,
and softball. The primary goal of our athletic program is to emphasize
teamwork and good sportsmanship as well as an opportunity to develop
ability into skill. In keeping with the policy of the Archdiocese
of Milwaukee, eligibility for sports will be directly tied to the
student's academic performance and behavioral record.
For those students participating in athletics, academic performance
and behavioral records will be reviewed every week by their teacher
or a team of teachers. If a student's academic performance and/or
behavior falls below teacher's expectations an athletic probation
will be in effect for one week. After the one-week probation those
students who have failed to improve will receive a one-week suspension.
Parents/Guardians can make an appeal based on ability, effort, behavior,
and attendance.
If a student receives an In School Suspension or an Out of School
Suspension, s/he cannot participate in a sport's practices or games
until the suspension is over.
Coaches, with the approval of the athletic director and/or the
principal of Our Lady Queen of Peace, may suspend students from
a sport's participation if they are confronted with inappropriate
and/or unsportsmanship like behavior. The length of the suspension
will be determined by the principal, athletic director and/or coach.
As with any extra curricular activity, if a student is absent from
school, s/he may not participate in athletics on that day (practice
or game).
Athletic sports include: Basketball,
Soccer, Football

Band
Our Lady Queen of Peace School has expanded its Music program to
include band instruction through the All Saints Music Program. The
All Saints Music Program provides group instruction for trumpet,
clarinet, flute, saxophone, trombone and snare drum. Practices are
held every Wednesday after school from 2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.
in the school cafeteria. The cost is $30.00 per month. Students
in Grades 4 through 8 are welcome to join.
Forensics
Do you enjoy speaking in public, making people laugh or acting?
Then perhaps Forensics is for you. Forensics is a great way to improve
public speaking skills. Under the guidance of one of our coaches,
a student prepares a piece from the possible 18 individual and group
categories. The Forensics Team made up of 6th, 7th and 8th grade
students then participates in meets around the area. At a meet,
the student’s presentation is evaluated by a trained judge
based on a set of criteria designed for each category. The students
earn points for ribbons, medals or trophies.
Congratulations to our Forensics team who did extremely well in all
their competitions.
Student
Council
Our Lady Queen of Peace Student Council members are elected to
serve our school community in November of the school year. Middle
school students and OLQP staff submit names to appear on a ballet
that is then used for a final vote to determine the current year’s
members.
OLQP’s Student Council hears the suggestions of their classmates
by way of a suggestion box that is checked once a week. They meet with teachers to share those suggestions in
regards to Catholic School’s Week events and other special
things throughout the year.
The group usually hosts fundraising, assists with donation drives and plans special events for students later in the school
year.

Yearbook
The Yearbook staff is made up of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade
students who are responsible for putting the yearbook together.
These students volunteer for the staff and the teachers determine
who should be eligible to participate based on attendance, behavior,
and grades.
Once on the staff the students are responsible for laying out the
actual yearbook pages and meeting deadlines that Ms. Chesick sets.
