TEACHER PROFILES
Mr. Travis Janssen - K4
Hi, my name is Travis Janssen and I am excited about teaching your child in K-4 this year. I love kids! They bring with them a certain energy and spirit that makes every day different and exciting. I graduated from Carroll College in 2002 with an early childhood teaching degree. I am looking forward to seeing you at open house and making your child's first year in school a productive and enjoyable one.

Mrs. Cindy Jamnik - K5
My name is Cindy Jamnik and I started teaching Kindergarten at Our
Lady Queen of Peace School in January, 1991. My degree is in Early
Childhood Education, from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
I am married with a son and a daughter, both in their early 20’s.
My goals as an educator in this Catholic School are: to make sure
each child reaches his/her own potential and that each child knows
he or she is a special gift from God. This is a great age to teach;
the year goes by too fast!

Ms Julie Madden- 1st Grade
This is my fourth year at OLQP, and it has been a great experience so far! I studied Elementary Education, Mathematics, and Spanish at Carthage College and graduated in May 2007. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago but have since relocated to Milwaukee. I love teaching first grade; it is exciting to see the students make so much progress with reading and writing throughout the year. I am looking forward to a great year ahead

Mrs. Karen Kovochich - 2nd Grade
I am an OLQP graduate class of 1997 and have been a parishioner for over 20 years. I graduated from Cardinal Stritch University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a focus on Religious Studies. I am also teaching Religious Education to children who go to a public school on Sundays.
I believe every child has the ability to learn and succeed. Every child learns at a different pace and an effective teacher creates an inviting and safe environment. I also believe education is a collaborative effort between the student, parent, and teacher. Communication is the key to success and my goal is to keep the lines of communication open throughout the year.

Ms Maria Ruiz-Martinez has just joined the staff at OLQP as our 3rd Grade teacher. We welcome her and know you will too.

Mrs.Colleen Thiel- 4th Grade
I am Colleen Thiel, currently, the fourth grade teacher here at OLQP; but just like the weather, wait a little while and it may change. I have been a teacher at OLQP, on and off, since 2000. Since starting here, I have moved residence, had two children and switched grade levels three times. Let’s just say, no moss is gathering under me! Perhaps, that is why I enjoy teaching so much. Every day is new and exciting.
I began my professional career in 1994 after graduating from Marquette University with a BA in psychology. I worked with children and their families as a social worker in a group-home setting and as a Foster Care caseworker in Milwaukee County. For four years I was employed with La Causa, Inc. located on Milwaukee’s near south side. I was inspired to become a teacher by the many children I had contact with over the years. Visiting schools and working with the families, I saw a greater potential to impact the lives of children as a teacher than as a social worker. In 1998, I returned to school and pursued my teaching certificate through UWM. Since completing the program, I have not had any doubts that becoming a teacher was one of the best changes I made in my life!

Mrs. Jean Euer - 5th Grade
My name is Mrs. Jean Euer and I'm proud to be the fifth grade teacher
at Our Lady, Queen of Peace School. I am a 1991 graduate of Alverno
College where I majored in elementary education and minored in history
and psychology. Since graduation, I have been a teacher here at
OLQP. To me, education is a lifelong process and part of my job
as a teacher is to promote an enthusiasm for that process. I also
believe that every child has gifts from God, and we, as educators,
especially in a Catholic Christian environment are called to see
those gifts and help students to use them in a way that will give
Him glory.
I have also been a member of the parish here since 1986 and am active
in the adult choir, Human Concerns and Worship committees, and the fellowship group. I
am married and have two daughters that are OLQP graduates.

Mrs. Amy Beauford- 6th Grade homeroom
Hi! My name is Mrs. Beauford and I am the 6th grade homeroom teacher. Along with monitoring 6th grade homeroom I am also the Math teacher for 6-8 grades, 8th grade Religion teacher, and the Literature and Language Arts teacher for 6th grade. I was born and raised in Michigan and I attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo where I earned a bachelor degree in Elementary Education. This is my second year teaching at OLQP and I look forward to another great year!

Mrs. Sarah Mrozinski- 7th Grade homeroom
My name is Mrs. Sarah Mrozinski, and I am the middle school science and language arts teacher. I also have the 7th grade homeroom. I completed my undergraduate degree in Communication at Marquette University. After working for a couple of years at the Zoological Society of Milwaukee, I decided to pursue my teaching license and science minor at Cardinal Stritch University. I am delighted to be teaching and sharing my passion for science with the students at OLQP. I want my students to be active participants in the process of science so they can experience the excitement of the natural world.

Mrs. Stacy Chesick - 8th Grade
My name is Stacy Chesick and I am a teacher!
I teach because I love it. I have been a teacher here at Our Lady Queen of Peace school since 2001. I am the eighth grade homeroom teacher as well as Fifth, Seventh and Eighth grade Social Studies, Sixth grade Religion and Seventh grade Literature and Language Arts teacher. I have a degree from the University of Wisconsin Parkside in Political Science and History and received my teaching license from Alverno College in Broadfield Social Studies, History, Political Science, and Geography.
My teaching philosophy is centered on the importance of family involvement and communication between teachers. My classroom method aims at getting my students to insert themselves into the places, events, and stories which we are studying. Knowing also that today’s generation of students is “tech savvy” I try to incorporate technology into my lessons with the help of Mrs. Dunlap our computer teacher.

Mrs. Tina Sherman - Music
Mrs. Sherman teaches Music at both Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady Queen of Peace. She has been 10 years at Blessed Sacrament and is in her 4th year here at OLQP. Mrs. Sherman graduated from UW Oshkosh with additional certification in choral. Her primary instruments are voice and piano.
She is married and has an 8 year old daughter. Although she is very busy with her teaching, and family, she still finds time for some relaxation doing crafts.

Mrs. Barb Kitzke - Physical Education
Mrs. Kitzke is a graduate of UW - Whitewater, with a Physical Eeducation Degree in pre K through 12. She has been teaching for many years at Blessed Sacrament. For the past several years, she has been teaching at both Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady Queen of Peace.
Mrs. Kitzke feels fortunate to have been a stay at home mom for her 5 children. The many coaching experiences she has had while her children were growing gives her a unique perspective. She keeps very busy with her family

Mrs. Pat Dunlap - Computers
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, with a B.S.
Degree in Elementary Education, I began my teaching career in 4th
grade and after a few years made the switch to second grade. As
our family grew, I became a stay at home mom. My husband Kirk and
I have three children, a daughter and two sons. When my children
were school age, I returned to teaching as a substitute. I have
had long term subbing experience in Learning Disabilities and Junior
High. I began teaching at OLQP as a long term substitute in second
grade.
I love working in the computer lab. It's such a joy to work for a school which supports technology as OLQP and Father Spitz does. I am as excited about the
possibilities now as I was when I made the switch from Second Grade. I truly enjoy working with all the age groups, each has it's rewards. I’am looking forward once again
to an exciting and fulfilling year. The people make all the difference
and I truly enjoy working with and for the people at Our Lady Queen
of Peace Congregation & School.

Mrs. Margaret Erich - Resource/Librarian
My name is Margaret Erich. I am the resource teacher and the school librarian. I am married, the mom of two grown children, and the grandma of three. I have certifications in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Reading. I am a reading specialist in addition to being a teacher. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, but have lived in different areas of the country and have taught many ages of children. I started teaching 3 and 4 year olds in nursery school and gradually moved up to Kindergarten, Fourth Grade, and middle school reading. At Our Lady Queen of Peace, I enjoy working with children of all ages as well as keeping up on the latest in children’s literature.
